Default A4 to a M6

Has anyone out there put a M6 in an A4 car? What did it take? Is it as simple as swapping the tranny's and PCM's?Thanks!

Computer will throw codes since it will think the A4 is broken. The crossmember is different too. Obviously there's the hydraulics and the pedal assembly too.

The C5 would be much harder. I don't have one, nor have I ever worked on one, but The list of required parts is much longer and much of the car would likely need to be dissassembled. For an FBody, I'd guess it's a one day project, but I suspect the C5 would be much more of an ordeal.

We did an M6 to A4 here in the shop a couple weeks ago, so I've kinda done what you are wanting to do. This was on a 2000 SS. Everythings jeromio says is correct, along with the flywheel, flywheel bolts, we filled a whole in the tunnel with a piece of aluminum so you would be CUTTING a whole for the shifter and boot. I then added the required harness to operate the A4, you would be adding a little bit of a harness for the M6 (at least for the reverse lockout and the backup lights, nobody wants CAGS!). To do it properly, there is also a wire from the clutch pedal to the PCM/cruise control so that your cruise control operates properly and SAFELY. I then reflashed the PCM as an automatic and used LS1 Edit for the performance changes needed (high stall converter and off road Y-pipe). That'll about do it!!

Actually you'd be cutting a hole in the trans tunnel, not a whole! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" />
