Default Camaro v6 ls1 swap

Looking for anyone who has succesfully swapped an ls1 into a 98+ v6. I have a 98 v6 5spd, with a blown engine. so the car will need a new engine regardless. I amassing the funds to purchase the swap. And i am looking for some who knows the intrcasies of the swap. So I will be swapping the engine, t56, all accessories, ecu, wiring harness, guage cluster, rear differential. I already have the 1le driveshaft. So anyone that knows about it post it here or email me at speeddemonws6@jaxstreetscene.com thx all.

i don't know any of the specifics but it seems to me it should all bolt in. doesn't seem very cost efficient for GM to make completely different specs for V6 and V8 camaros.

well this is what I am hoping but I haven't been able to find anyine who has done this yet though. closest thing yet is an ls1 in 94 v6. I wondering if the v6 fuel system will hold up, i.e. if its the same fuel pump and regualtors since they are in the tank.

The fuel system is different...but in a GOOD WAY! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

The V6 has fuel lines that run fuel up to a pressure regulator on the fuel rail and then send the fuel back to the fuel tank. The V8s have the regulator in the tank and just one line going to the engine. You need to get the 97/98 Vette fuel rail, not the kind that comes on the F-bodys. Also, get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator while you’re doing all this.

I converted my Evap system line into a fuel return line on my 01 Z28. I then mounted a fuel gauge on the test port (on the front of the fuel rail) and can dial the pressure up or down with the engine running. The throttle response in much crisper now as the pressure remains more constant.

If you have any questions, I would be happy to help if I can. Good luck <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Just wanted to add that the 97-98 corvette fuel rail is permanently discontinued. I had one on order at the dealership for months, and they finally told me they are no longer making it. Street and performance will sell a modified fuel rail so it has the return in it. But if you are going to use a external fuel pressure regulator, just buy one with 3 ports and you will have a return line right from your regulator.

All you have to do is run pressure to it, then a return to the tank. Next one single line from the regulator to the fuel rail. I have mine mounted on the drivers inner fender, but I might move it to the back since it takes so much fuel line. I don't think it will make a difference....I hope.??

OK update currently puchased an 01 ls1/t56(maf to ecu) with full front suspension/kmember, and rear 3.42 axle. All out of an 01 ss and for less then 5k. My question is radiator the same in the v6 model as the ls1 or will I need this also?

I appreciate your help. Also, the k members are different, right? Because my friend with a 2001 T/A says they should be the same, but that makes no sense to me.

Um, Yes it will. The LS bolt pattern is the same as ALL other small block Chevys. Unless you have the 3.4L 60 degree V6, then that is specific to the 2.8/3.4 platform. ALL other transmission bellhousings that use the 90 degree pattern, including the 3.8L V6 are the same pattern. If it's a manual that you would like to install, a quick call to a clutch company will give you the correct clutch disk to use. You can even bolt on a Powerglide, a TH-350 or even a TH-400 behind an LS. If you are wanting to bolt a T-5 behind your LS, then you need to find a bellhousing from an earlier camaro that is either cable or Hydro, that will bolt up to your trans. It's absolutely possible.

OP, please keep up updated. I'm starting a 94 3.4L swap to an LQ4/TH-400/single turbo swap soon and am curious as to how your progress is coming. If you have the whole K Member, just bolt that up in there. It will bolt in directly with no custom work at all.

Edit: The LS engine platforn uses ONE additional bolt for their bellhousings, it has been proven over and over again that you can leave that one bold out and it will be perfectly fine.

The kmember and rack and pinion are different, and the sector shaft. Also the heater core hoses, throttle cable. Its not that bad I did one into a 97.

If if its a 98 and up V6 Yes but u have to change the bell housing and input shaft and torque converter. If its a 3.1 or 3.4 or 2.8 No it will not bolt up and if its a non split bellhoused transmission from a 3.8 it will not work also.
