Default New Member!!!

Hey guys! I'm new to this board but not to the LS1 swap. I purchased a 98 LS1 to swap into my 67 camaro about 2 years ago now. WOW thats a long time. Anyway the project is coming to a close, but I can always use more help. Here's my first question: Is anyone else using an inline pump with the '99 corvette inline regulator/filter? Im curious because everyone talks about needing the inlet/outlet fuel rails. thanks alot, theres many more questions to come! BTW John, Your car is awsome, I came across your site about a year ago and have gotten alot of valuable info from it, and even emailed you a couple of times.

Check this earlier posting-a lot of good info. It starts out about rails and gets into pumps and other stuff.

Gordon: I'm doing the LS1/67 Camaro swap as well. Don't know if I can answer your fuel system questions because mine is overkill for a stock LS1. But I am going to be installing a D1SC and will need the extra fuel. I'm using the Speed Inc. fuel rails and Aeromotive pump & regulator. I'm sinking a fuel cell in the trunk as well. Check the post above it'll give you some other options.

I'm using the 4th gen brakes on the rear too. I've got part GM numbers laying around somewhere and I'll post them if you want. I test fitted them on my old 8.2" 10 Bolt (ex-drum brake) rear end. I am ordering a new 12 bolt, but I wanted to see how they fit on the old rear end first. On the old 10 bolt rear the gap between the axle flange and housing was about 1/4" too wide. The caliper wasn't lining up with the rotor correctly. So when I order a new 12 bolt I will make sure the gap is correct. I can't help you with caliper to shock clearance because I moved my shocks in when I started the mini-tub. But the bolt pattern is correct. You could proabably run a spacer between the backing plate and rearend housing and use longer bolts to get the rotor/caliper alignment right. Hope that helps. I can take some digital pictures if you want.

I am running a 99 vette pressure regulator in my 70. Works great. I really liked the idea of having a short return line and only one line running up to the fuel rail. My pump and regulator are mounted just under the tank. Even though I only run an inline pump, I have never had a problem with fuel starvation on heavy accelleration.

Gordon: I haven't measured a 4th gen rear to see if it would fit. I think you would have to use 4th gen offset wheels to have any chance of it working. You'd have to remove all the suspension mounts and weld on leaf spring mounts.

Sounds like a lot of work to me, especially considering that rear is probably the weakest part of a 4th gen. I'm not sure that it's any stronger than the rear you probably have now. If you plan on modding the motor and running at the track I think you're gonna be wishing you had gone with a 12 bolt or 9" from the start.

LS-1st-Gen ;
I am also running the 4th gen rear disc,and front too,but on a second gen camaro.I have the drivers side on and heres what I found with the passengers side.
With the staggered shocks your caliper will hit the shock on the passenger side unless you use a drivers backing plate&setup on passenger side.
I am modifying the lower shock mount on passenger side to locate the shock after the axle on the bottom.This way you can also use the ebrake from the 4th gen.
Good luck on your project.

Just in case you guys don't know about this site, here's the link. http://www.pro-touring.com There are quite a few first gen guys there, that may offer more advice. There are a lot of topics about brake conversions...
