Check this earlier posting-a lot of good info. It starts out about rails and gets into pumps and other stuff.

I'm using the 4th gen brakes on the rear too. I've got part GM numbers laying around somewhere and I'll post them if you want. I test fitted them on my old 8.2" 10 Bolt (ex-drum brake) rear end. I am ordering a new 12 bolt, but I wanted to see how they fit on the old rear end first. On the old 10 bolt rear the gap between the axle flange and housing was about 1/4" too wide. The caliper wasn't lining up with the rotor correctly. So when I order a new 12 bolt I will make sure the gap is correct. I can't help you with caliper to shock clearance because I moved my shocks in when I started the mini-tub. But the bolt pattern is correct. You could proabably run a spacer between the backing plate and rearend housing and use longer bolts to get the rotor/caliper alignment right. Hope that helps. I can take some digital pictures if you want.

Sounds like a lot of work to me, especially considering that rear is probably the weakest part of a 4th gen. I'm not sure that it's any stronger than the rear you probably have now. If you plan on modding the motor and running at the track I think you're gonna be wishing you had gone with a 12 bolt or 9" from the start.

I am also running the 4th gen rear disc, and front too,but on a second gen camaro.I have the drivers side on and heres what I found with the passengers side.
With the staggered shocks your caliper will hit the shock on the passenger side unless you use a drivers backing plate&setup on passenger side.
I am modifying the lower shock mount on passenger side to locate the shock after the axle on the bottom. This way you can also use the ebrake from the 4th gen.
Good luck on your project.
