I need some help with VATS. Can someone give me a hand or suggestion?
Ok, this is not a hybrid vehicle but I know (after reading many posts in this forum) that ya'll run into this problem from time to time.
Here is my original thread:

My question is if I have a malfunctioning VATS module, will disabling it with LS1edit fix my problem? I know that some people disable VATS in the PCM and do not have the VATS module at all in their hybrid car and everything works.
I'd like to know how the VATS module is wired. If it is inline from the steering column to the PCM, then I would think that I could disable it in the PCM and that would solve my problem.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 2000 Z28 that shows this? or any other suggestions that might work?
My girlfriend is going to buy me LS1edit. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> I just want to make sure this will the problem of my car embarrassing the he11 out of me when it doesn't start. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

John @ Speartech would probably be the one to give you the best answer to this. I think most of us Hybrid guys don't end up with these extra parts when we purchase our LS1 set ups (except for the ones that get the whole car).
I do know this:with LS1edit you will be able to delete the VATS from the PCM.
I've got a '98 LS1 with the Helms books so I can't help you with the wiring. I think the VATS stuff was a little different on the earlier models too.

VATS controls two things on a production car.
1) The VATS signal to the PCM allows fuel injector pulses.
2) The VATS signal to the starter relay allows the car to crank.
If you disable VATS with LS1 Edit, #1 is taken care of, but you must still physically jumper around the starter relay so the car will crank.
The VATS control circuitry is located in the BCM on these cars. There is not a separate VATS module like on the earlier LT1 cars.
