LS1 C4 Conversion
Any information is appreciated!
Take Care,
Kevin
Heres my costs so far:
$1800 - Complete LS1 from ebay with all accesories
$60 - Conversion Motor mounts from Street & Performance
$150 - MAC Headers for 98-99 F-body
$350 - New TH350 Tranny
$200 - Used Continental 9.5" 3500 rpm converter
$250 - Had wiring harness converted to a 4-wire hook up, for a BEYOND easy hookup. ( A guy on ebay)
And thats about it. I plan on having 3000 total in the whole swap with tranny.
I have all the f-body accesories on the front. I took the A/C compressor out because it wouldnt clear (or you can move it up top).
And the altenator had to be moved up top which is the last thing i have to do to finish the swap.

Yes the MAC f-body headers fit.
BTW: My vette now weighs approx 2700 lbs without me in it, and that includes no stripping of any kind (other than A/C) and a 5-pt roll bar. So it makes this car very easy to go REAL fast.

Yea it was full weight nothing removed.
The car weighed about 3100-3200 when it was stock
1) Going to th350/9" converter saved approx 70 lbs
2) I have a cowl hood scoop on it, and the thinner fiberglass was 12 lbs diff. 82 total
3) Ls1 motor swap from L98 stock motor, iron exhaust manifolds, big tpi intake, Smog pump etc (my car had a 85 TPI motor in it with iron heads, blah only ran 14.1 @ 100 mph). Approx 150 lbs saved. 232 total
4) Weld Prostars from stock wheels 80 lbs. 312 total
5) A/c & heater blower box, condensor, a/c pump gone 40 lbs 352 total
6) This is the race weight with open header exhaust at the track . minus full exhaust out the back 70 lbs. 422 total
7) No passenger seat at the track, 20 lbs. 442 total
8) Spare tire stuff delete 40 lbs 482 total
and heres my last ditch idea if it doesnt go quite 9's:
remove hood: 100-140 lbs
front bumper: 20 lbs
Rear glass/hatch: 50-60 lbs
Targa top: 25-30 lbs??
Doors: 150 lbs
The local dragstrip here has "street race" nights where they do no tech at all if the car is tagged/registered/insured, other than a helmet and seat belts. (weve had low 9 second cars with no cages, and just a lap seat belt and a helmet on them.
That would put me at a solid: 2300 lbs !!!! hahahahahah that would be ghetto but HILARIOUS. Now thats hardcore. I bet the 550 rwhp my car has on a small bottle shot would run mid 9's @ 145
