Default What's your fuel milage???

I'm curious what all of you hybrids are getting for fuel milage. Right now I'm getting 7mpg and spending $300 per month on petrol. To tell you the truth, this is one of the main reasons I have an LS1 in the garage now. Just curious. Let's see who get's the best in a hybrid.

7 mpg. That thing better be yanking the front wheels all the time and making 700 hp. Otherwise, it running rich. My big block knocks down 9 to 11 mpg and it runs 11.99. Most of its use was in 1/4 mile increments. So, to and from the track I was doing better. When I get my LS1 running, I expect 18 to 24mpg out of it. Heck my 2001 Silverado gets 16 mpg and it weighs in at twice as much.

You're right about me running rich. I just have a piece of crap holley. Who wants to pay 200 for a new holley when you can just buy a LS1? I'm hoping to get upwards of 30 mpg when I'm finished. I'm going to use a MSD DIS-4 to run my coils. But I'm also not going to use the stock corvette comp. I'm using AEM's race computer. I can tune it anyway I feel like it with my laptop. The key is to your lean-burn perfect on De-cel and cruising (close to 20:1 A/F) then stepping it up to 12.6:1 at open throttle. The way to do that is to run wide-band O2 sensors.

Combined in town and highway driving with my LS1/T56 is about 17-18 mpg and on the highway in 6th gear with 4.10's cruising 70-75 MPH I got 24 mpg when I checked it. Not to shabby for ~500 FWHP

Allot is going to depend on the weight of the car you are putting it in, trans, and how you drive it. To be honest I haven't done any actual measuring yet, but it doesn't seem that much worse than the 2.8 I had in before. It will definitely be better than 7 MPG

In town about 20. On the highway about 27 mpg. That is in a 3200 lb convertible with the top down.

Well you will get good economy on fuel... but I could have bought ten years worth of fuel for what it cost to do the swap. So, how does that even out? I guess you just feel better when you don't have to fill the tank so often.

Okay, here is how I justify the project. First of all is the fuel savings. If I can get just 15 mpg out of this new setup, that is twice as good as before and $150 cheaper per month but I'm expecting more than that. I bought the corvette engine for 2 grand including all accessories. So your right about the year. BUT HERE IS ANOTHER MAIN POINT. My old engine was going to need a rebuild within the next 6 months. A good performance buildup to match the LS1's level would cost at least $1000. So that makes the fuel savings pay off after 6 months. Here is the last reason. I had just purchased a Tuned Port Injection for my old engine. That setup installed would have cost close to $600. Now I can sell that for profit on ebay because I got a great deal. NOW my engine is paid off in under 3 months when all is considered and I get new car reliability. PLUS I'm getting $700 of MSD ignition and fuel pump for free. I'm getting my aftermarket computer for just as cheap. So after that incredibly long explanation, there it is......... Justification and Coolness
