Factory Five GTM supercar
Anyone check this out?
It uses C5 parts minus a Porsche transaxle, and takes a LS1:

yep that might be my next project. Buy the kit, then get a wrecked vette form copart, then get one of those pricey damn porsche transaxles. It would be one swweet ride.

Kit will start at arround 20K, then the cost of the running gear. So it all depends on how crazy you want to get. I have been looking at doing the MKIII for some time now. But this super car looks bad ***. In a recent Hot Rod mag, they tool the super car to the track and ran a 12.5 at 117 with I think just stock vette parts and motor.

I'd rather have something like this: http://www.arielatom.com/ariel/site.php Less than $30k to build, with all the options.

5-6 for a wrecked vette from copart
2-4 for porsche parts
2 for misc stuff

not too bad considering the performance you would get. It would be one fun ride!!!

I don't believe it can be done that cheap! I would think you'd have $50k in that car... even doing everything yourself. If you could make that car for $30k I'd be shocked!!

Yeah that thing would be cool I brought it up a while back and the GTS guys got a little ruffled I think it would end up closer to $50K maybe if you used all stock parts but who wants to do that? You knw what would be hot a 400+ ci stroker with some huge brakes nice wheels and all black and........
I want one.

That is sweet, but Factory Five doesn't have that good of a rep in the kit car world. I was researching a Cobra kit a couple of years ago and they are local to me. What I came across in the kit car message boards was that their fiberglass wasn't that great and their fit and finish was pretty lousy. I don't know if things have changed since then. Still want one though!

the power plant is basically two Suzuki 'busa bike engine sstrapped together on one crank! the basic engine is making about 350-360bhp and good torque (for such a small and light engine)! Powertech also do a 3.0ltr version (basically like their 1.5 ltr 'busa engines) that will easly make 500bhp!!! in somthing like the Radical, that will be simply amazing!!!!
thanks Chris.

I just dont think there is anyway you will be able to build one of those cars for under 40,000
You have no idea how expensive all the **** gets, brakes, gauges, bolts, paint, wheels tires.
Every dam little thing adds up so quick

Exactly.. granted the kit includes the gauges, but if you want nice stuff on it look out... big brakes $3k, nice wheels w/rubber $2k, paint, primer and materials $2k... plus if you're buying a vette off copart or any other auction, it would be a miracle to get one at an affordable price with ALL the parts you need to put that thing together.
Regardless, I STILL want one!! Maybe if I move in with my parents and start saving my money....

im not having a go at th atom, they are amazing cars. first read about them, oh, about 4 years ago. they have gone through such a development curve since then!!! using the honda engine was the best thing they could have done. Snd with a s/c, well 500kg and over 300bhp, you do the math!!!!
just make sure you stick a set of wings on there! i hear they can get a little lively at the back end!!!
thanks Chris.
