I'm thinking about putting an MTI 427 in to my 67 RS Camaro. I love the thought of it. I know that LS1 swaps are getting more common, but is the swap on this engine going to be the same as a stock LS1? What I mean is the PCM and harness items.
Any help you guys can give would be great.
Thank

I'm looking into buying a 69 and swapping an LS1/T56 into it as well. To answer your question, installing an MTI 427ci is the same thing as installing a stock LS1. Same harness, and same computer system. You will need custom computer programming however, as expected.

Doug, I know they could do it, but I'll bet they are too busy to work on custom installs. Custom installs typically cost more than what was originally planned, especially if it is the shop's first time to do a conversion. Always hidden stuff that pops up later.

Welcome aboard NewLS1Guy! Looks like you're real close to my neck of the woods <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Not to talk you out of a 427 LS1 for your swap (unless it's for drag racing only) but you may want to just see how a 5.7L does in it for the street. Once you realize that you don't have any traction you may decide that you have enough power with just heads & cam (I speak from experience!) not to mention a heck of a lot less expensive.

Hey John B, Looks like your just down the road from me.
Here is what I'm looking for:
1. It is not a daily driver, but will be driven in the summer months quite a bit.
2. Would like to run someplace in the 11's range on just the engine (is it possible?)
Thanks you all of your help.
