Default Running the ac compressor belt without hoses?

Instead of removing the belt from the ac compressor, I would like to know if as long as I do not engage the clutch on the compressor will it be alright to run the compressor without any hoses hooked up to it?

If the clutch is "off", then the compressor will not be running.

BUT, you need to seal up the ports somehow, otherwise moisture will get in there and corrode the works.
