LS1 Thermostat Housing
Will a generic Chevy aftermarket thermostat housing work or is the LS1 special? If it is, do you know of anyone that sells a straight in thermostat housing?
www.tunedport.com sells one with a swivel neck, though I'm sure it isn't cheap. Don't know of anyone selling a straight one.

The LSx water necks have a counterbore that fits LSx thermostats; this is why the gen 1&2 SB Chevy water neck housuings may not work.

It uses a standard small block Chevy thermostat, I just asked for one from a 350 Camaro. The thermostat fits slightly loose in the housing and it is supposed to in order to let a small amount of water get past for circulation. Been 3 years this month and about 10k miles with no problems. Using a 180 degree stat and that's where the motor runs most of the time.

I'm just curious about the compatibility of a SB thermostat with an LS water pump.
Thanks!
