Hey guys I got a quick question. I am almost done with my swap and I cant get the shifter to shift properly. I got a blazer console and a camaro a4. What are you guys doing about shifters in your swaps?

Thanks

On mine I had to go into the tranny and change the shift shaft (the point on the tranny the shifter linkage bolts to) its pretty easy...only took a couple minutes but my tranny was out at the time. Mine has the column mounted shifter and a box (mounted on that shaft) that tells the which lights to light up in my instrument cluster (P-R-N-OD-D-2-1).

Ok, here is the problem. I am going to try switching the shift shaft, Thanks BigDeez. I am switching the shifter lever by hand underneath the truck and when I am taking it down the road it wont shift out of 1st. The speedometer dosent register either, I dont know if that has anything to do with it or not. What would make the transmission not shift? The fulid level is good, any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

Sounds like your unregistering speedo is the main problem. If you are not getting a VSS (the sensor on the tail housing) signal the tranny will do exactly what your describing...not shift...as well as have the speedo inop. I had the VSS go out on my Camaro A4 trans and thats exactly what happened. I think my VSS went out due to all the in and out of my motor and trans when I was fitting them. I would say check to make sure the ECM is getting a VSS signal before anything else.

I just posted about notching the ls2 oil in s10forum. Yes it does work and leave plenty of room. I have a 4" lowered s10 and I won't have to worry about a busted pan. The only pain is where the drain plug is located. You can get to the plug but oil will pore onto the crossmember. This is the better pan to use over the 5.3 and you do not have to cut the ls2 oil pan at all for a lowered s10.

how much room is between the drain plug and the cross member? do you think there is enough room for one of those oil change valves?

like this thing from fumoto http://www.fumotovalve.com/ I don't know much about it but they have one with a nipple maybe put a 90* elbow on it or somthing. I don't know. Just thinking but it all depends on how much room is available.

Default motor mount blues

ok, so the motor mounts (on the block) that i ordered from JTR(jags that run) dont even come close to allowing the motor to even mount, even with about 3" of movement front to back on each side, its as if he welded them backwards, as well as the headers that i ordered from them wont fit at all, it ends up right in the steering shaft, anyone else have these problems?

Maybe you installed the mounts wrong? They will bolt to the motor on the wrong side.At any rate take some pics of the problem area's and post them. Also, are you using the older style 2.8 mounts?

got the whole thing, it actually makes the motor sit ****-eyed, and causes the pan to go into the cross member (yes it is notched 2X10) and we cant really notch the k-member any more, the a-arm bolts are right against the edge, i know the mounts were on as labeled(each one said either pass or drivers side) but if they were flipped and the tabs welded on the other side it would fit perfect, a screw up maybe? ill get pics tomorrow

what do you mean by having to drill anothing hole in the bracket? and does the transmission have to be moved back some or something, i'm kinda confused on this part.

ok, sorry about not getting the pics, but we were looking, the brackets are incorrect, we measured, he welded them backwards, as well as, we noticed (he was getting ready to go on vacation in 2 days) that he only welded 1, yes ONE, side of the mounting tabs, and burned them none the less, so were gunna have our guy fix em up some
