Id like to run a push button starter for my conversion. Where can I find a proper ignition push button?
How should I wire it up, I assume I need some sort of a toggle/keyed switch also to turn the power to the computer/fuel pump etc?

Thats a good drawing. It would be nice to have a safety feature to where you can't start the engine if it is already running. Maybe a voltage sensing circuit tied to the ground of the relay. That way if voltage was ever over 12V it would prevent the starter circuit from working.
Or to be really creative maybe have the push-button stop the engine as well, like a C6.

As you know, there are two seperate circuits involved in the starting of an automobile. One is the starter control circuit and the other is the ignition system. Both are typically ground side relay controlled. Or in the case of the LS1, the ignition is computer controlled. Everyone in this thread are pushing you in the right direction. So, put a switch and relay inline with the starter controll circuit, and leave the key to controll the ignition on/off.

Here's how I figured it would be done: Toggle switch for ignition and momentary push button for start. Switch on, push button... VROOM!! Flip off the toggle switch to shut it down.

A safety feature to prevent "re-starting" the engine would be nice too. KEep em coming guys!

If you figured out how to do push to start / push to stop, that would probably be a good safety against starting an engine that is already running.
I'd suggest a second relay that controls "ignition" power and is a master control for the "starter" relay (power for the "starter" relay feeds through the "ignition" relay)

OK, I figured it out. It uses 2 relays one for IGN and one for the starter solenoid and a J-K Flip Flop. I plan on using a key to arm the IGN relay, probably hide it in the ash tray or under the seat or something like that. When you push and hold the button the car will crank and start. When you push the button again it will kill the IGN relay. I am going to check out Radio Shack for parts availability and will have a drawing later this week.

Here is something I ran into while doing Ultima research.....
http://www.gkstarter.com/
push button start and then it changes into another function.
