Question ls1 into 95 ta staring problem and etc...

ok fellas its me again and again etc... ok now i had a lock smith to come program key today and he ran ill 14 codes and no code would work.now this is what he told me 1 this has never happened in his whole 19 year carreer so what he said is that something must not be hooked up wrong or left unhooked ok so far car is open headers and i have no egr valve ls6 in take so that not connected, and 02 sims not plugged in yet lt headers on ,and i had to order a retainer for shift cable would stop car from staying in park because car will just roll?would that be a reason car would not start? ok and i have a little black rectangle peace with 2 tiny screws that hook up on top of streering wheel shaft (i think its cruise control) would that stop car from starting?,also i notice a plug for the front brake sensor (white connector was not plug up.ok when i say not starting i mean turn key and nothing happen! not even a motor spin.ok so what any one think?i made it this far is the hope?just little info car is a 95 ta that was totaly stripped down to the frame and built back up with all 98 ta parts everything rear end dash seats etc... over 1 year in progress even gas tank .any help please call me or write 504-432-0828 dee just ready for this to be over

If the car will not stay in park and does not crank I would guess that the neutral safety switch is stopping you. The switch should be in the dash of an f-body, and the starter will not crank unless the car is in park or neutral.

The switch is probably on the driver side, but it could be in the counsel by the shifter, I don`t know for sure, never worked on a camaro. The output wire from the switch passes through the Blue 230 plug, it is either pin I or J, it is a orange with black trace wire and should be grounded in park and neutral. There is also another wire that I just found in the pinouts that may stop the starter. On the white 220 plug pin J there is a yellow with black trace wire that is labled "vehicle anti-theft system starter enable relay output-coil." I do not have a wiring diagram for the car, only the dash harness pinouts that I downloaded from this site so I have no idea how exactly this wire works. I also do not know where the 220 and 230 plugs are located, probably in the dash, but I can`t narrow the location down any more than that.

i believe it is in the consoleshifter area. i think you can tell which one it is by taking out the console and shifting into park. there is a switch there that gets pressed in when the shifter is all the way in park. i'm sure from there you could see which color/wires go to this and try to figure out the problem from there. also have you had the wiring harness repinned? i was never able to get my car to start by key, i ended up putting in a pushbutton start, but the key still has to be in and turned to on. the car would only fire when the ignition switch was being released from the start position and going back to on position. i went 96 firebird V6 auto to ls1 t-56, so i got rid of all the automatic stuff during the swap, but i also had problems getting it started the first time.

do you have you passkey still intact? Does the key for the column match the resistance of the passkey? (new key must go with new passkey module, 95 key goes with 95 module) Otherwise the car wont start. The neutral safety is under the center console on an automatic. It will be the 2 largest wires underneath there. Connect the 2 and the car should start if that is the problem.
