Sure is nice to get 20+ mpg in a daily driver that makes 900 hp.

The LS1 swap is the only way to go for me if looking to go fast on a budget in a C4.

If you have any questions, its a easy swap if you have the right parts. and I can answer about any question on it, i just kinda of choose not to post up pics of the motor setup.

My LS1 C4 I think is the fastest stock style suspension C4 (dana 44) in the country (that I know of). 1.3 60 ft's, 145 Mph 1/4....

How did you get the weight of your car so low? I have a 85 and am wanting to put a ls1 in it also. What trans do you have? If not factory what are you doing got the c-bean to trans? Thanks

Yes im just using the cbeam that I cut and welded extended with another c-beam i have an extra few inches to reach the th350. If i did the tranny over, i would have just bought a longtailshaft 9" th350 and it wouldnt been a direct swap bolt up with a c4 700r4 tailshaft

It would be lighter if it wasnt a dailydriver type setup actually.
mines an 85 as well. They come in around 3100 stock (700r4). They are iron block with iron heads till around mid 86 when they went to alum heads.

The ls1 motor alone is 250 lbs lighter complete vs an 85 TPI 350".
Then you go with Pro stars with skinnies vs stock wheels thats another 80 lbs.
Then I got rid of spare tire/jack another 30-40 lbs.
Spool in the rearend thats 20lbs lighter
10" torque converter vs stock = another 20-25 lbs
Th350 vs stock 700r4 i would guess at 40-50 lbs lighter
The cowl hood scoop dropped the hood weight about 10 lbs cause much thinner than the factory.
Removed front sway bar, emissions random stuff, a/c box-condensor/lines/compressor
probably another 40-50lbs

If it wasnt for the roll bar (40-50lbs), 96 sport seats with full power driver/pass (60lbs vs 2-3 for a race seat), twin nitrous bottles/kit (55lbs), targa top vs glass top (9 lbs), factory seat belts plus the 5pt harnesses both sides (20lbs)

I really think I could get the car to 2400 lbs without stripping it, and just making a little more race only. If it was a race only car, 2200 lbs wouldnt be hard with taking out the power windows/locks/accessories, dash wiring, carpet, rear compartment stuff, power steering pump, headlight assemblies, lexan hatch/windshield/side glass

id only do the swap to go drag racing...

i saw somebody swapped a GN motor into a C4, it was sick

LS1 would be the best thing to happen to a drag TPI C4...

hell if somebody wanted to trade me a non running vette for my V6 camaro id figure out the swap...

So if I get a long tail shaft 350 then a vet 700r4 tail shaft housing will bolt on? Then I need a c-beam from a auto. My car was a 4+3 so I have a d44. Do you have a 700r4 tailshaft housing?

I got a kiesler tko600, solves the shifter issue I hope. havent put it in yet... just got the bellhousing, it finally came in two days ago. If anything it wouldnt be impossible to make a shifter. Though on a regular tko500/600 the farthest shifter location is too far forward.

Seriously... anyone have those pictures?

Alright alright....but i would ask you dont link to these or post these on the corvetteforum. Heres a few from about 4 years ago when i first put a 346 stock LS1 in the car, then the other motors that proceeded it. I have about 1000 more pictures but i just picked out a quick few. I am feeling generous today, lets see how if can help.

My car has went 1.40 60 ft's with the back wheels. Dynoed near 800 rwhp on pump gas.

Forged 408", TEA Stg 1.5 heads, mild cam,ls6 intake, Jantzer TB, mac headers and a 300 shot /w a little dry shot on top.
Heres the progression my car has went through.
First I ran the stock TPI 350" with spray and went 12.20.
Then 383 Carbed/spray went high 10's.
Then 480" solid roller bigblock 10's N/A.
Then 346" LS1 /w spray, mid-low 10's,
then 408" /w spray (single digits)

(I removed the links, let me know if you guys need any more info)

VTESPEED, this is the one iteration i am most interested in hearing about, since i plan to grow my 427 to 496cid once it's in the car. care to share any pics or details of this swap specifically? mostly i need to know about valve covers & exhaust, rest i can handle. thanks! you can either PM or email me fubar569@verizon.net
