Default Videos of 240sx conversion?

I own both a 92 240sx fastback and a 1987 Iroc-Z. Since buying the camaro, I'm hooked on V8 power. So before I decided to restore the camaro, which I am, I was throwing around the idea of dropping my 305, or even an LS1 into my nissan. Since then, I decided against it because I was worried about driveability, traction, and if I really wanted to to drive the 240 for 5-10 more years..haha, that's what investments cost ya!

I'm thinking about it again because it's true the 240 is lighter and from what I hear handles better, plus small cars get in and out of traffic easy, parking etc lots of advantages. One thing I haven't thought about, how DOES a v8 sound under the hood of one of these little hatches, so I was wondering if there was a video out there so I could see the final product. Preferably years 89-92. Thanks a lot

Added- By saying how a v8 sounds in the car, I mean "does it suit the car" or is it the right engine for the car.

the sound isnt going to be affected by s13/s14 or coupe/hatch, its gonna sound like a ls1 if it has a ls1 in it.

No I meant does the sound go with the look of the car. I wanted to see videos of the same car, with the sound of that engine so I can decide If I like it or not. You can't say that every car sounds better with an LS1(literally meaning the LS1 engine sounds the same but the original engine suits the car better).

ok. here's what you do. go to ls1sounds.com, click a post with a stock engine, look at a picture of your nissan, and use your imagination.

There's no dumb question, but there are answers that aren't smart.

All I asked were for some videos, which I guess no one knows if they even exist, the s14 video is great, are there anymore? I don't want to pretend an engine is in a car, I want some real videos. What's the harm in that? Real videos!

Do you think a V8 sounds good in this car? I'm not asking if it sounds different, I'm saying good and in a 240sx fastback. And to go further with that speculation, the exhaust people use on a 240sx could make it sound different also.

ok First, I have a friend that did the sr20det swap. Hes looking for bigger rear tires because his stock setup sucks, apparently 225 is the biggest tires he can do without cutting, welding and rolling his fenders. IMO, make the 240 your DD and put an LS1 in the Iroc, depending on options on that Iroc(if it has , keep the engine and put a HUGE cam in the ls1.

Your buddy is either very misinformed or, well, he's just wrong. you can fit a much larger wheel/tire combo under the back haunches of both the s14 and the s13 chassis. The combo that will put my ls1 powa to the ground will be on a 9 1/2 or 10" wheel. On top of that , for relatively little money compared to the sr swap the guy could throw some overfenders on his car that would give him room for a much wider tire.

I have FULL confidence that it will fit (and hook)

And Quicksilver, why do you give two ***** what it sounds like? It will look better, give you some "individuality", and haul *** like silly!!

...but I just wanted some videos

LS1Tech is a fun forum! If anyone has another 240 with an LS1, besides Hinson's car, or you found any other 240 v8 videos, post them here. Why can't I ever be specific about the purpose of a thread...

I appreciate all who posted, even the flamers, now let's try to get more videos!!!

There are no 240 videos besides Hinsons. They have rx-7 vids out the *** though.

YES there are dumb questions! It says in the bible "do not ask DUMB QUESTIONS"

The looks and sound will NOT match. I jsut want the look on the face when they're trying to figure out wtf I have lol. I am in the process of doing the ls1 240, if you dont have the resources and equiptment don't even attempt it.

thats incorrect

you can easily fit a 10 inch wide wheel on the back of a 240sx. its alot easier on a S14 than s13, but possible nevertheless.

255's are no problem with stock fenders maybe a little bit of rolling if the car is lowered agressivley.

225s in the front since the coilovers protrude out alot. But on the rear... I had 275's on mine with no problem. 15x8 Prostars 5.5 backspacing and 275 BFG drag radials. If they made a 15x8 prostar with 6.5 inch BS I would have gotten that but they don't. I could easily fit a 315 in the back with some neg camber and some flaring with the right BS. Heres a pic of mine with 275s:

The swap will take, skill, time, money, the right equiptment, resources and alot of beer. And maybe a punching bag.

To hopefully put to rest any misconceptions that all import chassis suck and can't hold a wide tire, here are some pics of 315 width DRs on a Nissan S14 with no modifications to the wheel wheels or anything. Just the proper offset wheel.

Oh that looks so sexy! I love RWD! That offset has to be fricken huge. Told you all you could fit a 315 with ease. In a S13 though you'd need neg camber and a big offset because we don't have as much fender.
