Default M6 reverse lock out selonoid

How did you guys with 6 speed take care of the reverse selonoid in your cars? My car is a 67 Camaro and like to use this future if I can to prevent accidental shift to reverse.
Thanks

Just fit a switch on the console to activate the solenoid when you want reverse. It's a 12 Volt solenoid and has a low current draw. Just hook up a fused supply from your ignition circuit to it along with the switch and away you go.

If you are using the Factory ECU it takes care of the reverse lockout for you. It will lock out reverse based on input from the vehicle speed sensor input. Once the car is traveling forward more than about 5KMH it wont let you into reverse.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Michael

I was going to hook it up to my brake switch, but I just installed a Hurst shifter, and I can move it throught the reverse gate without too much trouble, so for right now I think I'm going to do without it.

back when i had my stock motor (SBC) and a 6spd, i did that.

BAD IDEA.
several people suggested it, but i suppose they never did it.

think about this... you're going downhill, and you downshift.. well your foot is on the brake when you downshift...
instead of going from 6th to 5th.. you easily slip into reverse... not good... lol.

i just used a tiny push button on the side of my dash that i could hit with my left hand. (litterally the SIDE of the dash, so you couldnt see it.)
when i pushed it, it put +12v to the silinoid, and i could shift into reverse with my right hand (aussie guys, reverse the sides...)

if you're using the stock PCM, it takes care of this for you.

if you do this, i suggest some form of VSS switch that disables it anytime you're going faster then 5mph or so.... like the stock PCM does for ya. (see my post above)

if you're running the stock PCM, then yes, it takes care of it for you.
