Just got LS1
and the post above me is refering to when a 6-speed LS1 car missed 4th gear on the highway and accidently drops it into 2nd, the road will be moving faster than the car can handle and actually push the engine PAST the rev limiter by enough to bend some of the pushrods.
and get rid of those 4.10's those are completely not necessary for such a light car. get 3.23's. or 3.73's i personally have 3.23's and love them on a much heavier car, the engine has a lot of wind up top.

If he has the stock rear there will be no 3.73's or 3.23's. You will have to go 3.90, which is what all LS1 RX-7 guys go far. They work much better than the stock 4.10's. You have to get them out of the auto RX-7's.
Going to go that route instead of raising the limiter. Thanks for replyes but still unanswered question of stock limiter setting ..about 6200?? Reason I'm asking is tach might be off, cuz I found out with help of Texas State Troopers that my speedo was.

Rx7 Tach and it seems like it bounces around 6200-6300 rpm according to it, which I didnt mean to do...but 4.10s will do that to you

If you are spinning it to 6200 it has been modified and you may have aftermarket springs, but to spin it much past 6000 its a good idea to have some aftermarket springs, and the first guy to respond was saying that if you spin it too high with the stock rod bolts (mostly a 98' model issue) then they may let go and throw a piston through the block. I'd advise some hardened rod bolts if you spin it much past 6500.
