Default LS1 chevelle guys

Alright, i have been having trouble figuring out what to do about exhaust on my 69. I did some looking and trial fitting and turns out, shorty headers from a 87-93 fox body 302 will work perfectly! they are the exact same distance between the ports. the only mod that has to be done is the LS1 flanges need to be welded on to the headers and the old ford ones cut off. some headers are rectangle but, if you cut back about 1/2 inch it is round and works perfectly. i will post pics in a day or two.

yea, once i get them perfected, i will send them off to have them coated. i might try and do a set of long tubes on down the road. if everything works out good on them, i will offer up some help for the other LSX guys if they want it.

Ya I think I may look into doing some longtubes myself since I already have some Z06 manifolds I doubt I would have much of a power gain going with shorty headers.

yea. see my problem is in the engine mounts. they are too big. i am running the asa lsi and using the asa mounts. so finding something that the tubes go down and cut back toward the firewall quick enough is the hard part.

Ya I can see how that would be a problem. I haven't gotten my mounts yet but so far I am thinking I will go with the BRB style.

If you are doing the Fox body headers. You can order the Flange from GM, Try www.GMPartsDirect.com GM # 12480130

Retail is $21.21 each and Their price is $14.85 each.(plus shiping and handling, $9.95 each they are costly on that part)

The are Steel and about 7/16" thick. Heave duty !

I have a set, but I don't think I am going to use them. If you want to buy them, let me know and I will see what it will cost to ship them to you.

I appreciate the help bczee. I will be honest in that my LS1 is just now going to the machine shop and it will be middle of the summer before I am gonna start really worrying about the exhaust. However, I will definitely keep you in mind thanks.
