Default Ready to start but.....Help!

All,

I now have the motor and a reworked 01 A4 harness and ECM from Wait4Me installed, however I don't have any other harnesses connected.

I want to know if there is a way for me to test fire this motor before going forward and putting the Cab back on the frame?

I have the 01 stock fuel tank with in the intank pump and harness, which wires are needed to get fuel going to the motor?

I have the following wires in a bundle - these looked to be the main wires that's needed to crank this bad boy.
Orange wire - Labeled: All Time Battery
Purple Wire - Labeled: Starter Silenoid
Big White wire - Labeled: Ignition power when key is on.

There's another bundle of small wires with labels of A/C relay, brake switch, ect.... Fan control 1 and Fan control 2, Fuel pump relay.

I have everything hooked up to the radiator and transmission cooler.
Do I need to use any relays - I see that quite often on conversion but I did not get any with my harness.

You need the fuel pump relay at least, was one not built into your harness? There should be a wire from the fuel pump relay that you connect to the fuel pump 12v terminal. That's what makes the fuel pump run.

Hey tri-5, did you ever get up and running? I also went with Wait4me and iI'm prepared to startup, but a little confused by those three wires as well, and what relays are required (One for fan 2/3 and fan 1 and the fuel pump?)

Would be very helpful if you could post back on this. It's the thick purple wire coming out of the PCM/harness that is really eating my ******* right now. Can't figure out if I connect that to my ignition or to some part of the solenoid All the wires on the solenoid look like they're already hooked up.

I have a post floating around here somewhere that shows exactly how to wire up the fans and the fuel pump. If you do a search for "wiring schematic" or "retrofit wiring" it will come up. All you do is ignore the rest of the wiring diagram and just deal with the fan and fuel pump part. Also on his the purple wire is the ignition circuit for the starter. It feeds through the harness...so you hook up your ignition wire from your car to that...but if you already hooked up the starter IGN+ then ignore that wire.

Here's how I got mine to work becuase I'm not using any interior harness thus no ignition wires from the steering column.

I had to connect the purple wire to my solenoid then hit it with 12 volt until the motor fires.
I haven't got to the ignition column yet.
Take a look at this thread,
https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-swaps/559051-these-fan-relay-connection-correct.html
All the info I got from G-Body is what I used and it worked great, please check and recheck all your connections to insure that you made the correct connections, I had to recheck several times before I got it right.

This info is also in the LS1 Swap FAQ for future reference.

Thanks guys! Just what I'm looking for.

The bad part about the conversions forum is when you search for certain terms, most people's conversion threads come up and they're several pages long, so it can take (literally) hours to get to the point in a thread where the keyword is, and then you find it was all for nothing because it doesn't pertain. This is both a blessing (the amount of info) and a curse (trying to find pertinent info).

Everyone has definitely been a great help, though. I thank you all for that. (you all deserve a beer in my book )

When you search the keyword(s) should come up in bold red print in the post. I just scroll down till I see something red flash across the screen and then pull back up to it. Saves me a lot of time doing it that way.

You can also search inside a thread, the menu is right at the top of the thread, just above the very first post.

I was doing the same thing. Page times are a little slow to load at this forum a lot of the time. Just last night in about an hour's worth of searching, I managed to get several "HTTP 408 request timeout" errors and at least a half a dozen database errors. So, you run into a swap thread with 8 pages worth of stuff and it takes the forum, takes each page about 30 seconds to load, then start scrolling for red text...you find your keyword about 5-6 pages in, and it's unrelated. Rinse, repeat

I try to be very, very diligent to use the search feature thoroughly before posting.

Speaking of which, what is up with the forum and the slowdowns and DB errors? Is it the number of members, the forum software or ??

PS - if you guys wanna see what I'm talking about - here are two search terms that will give you an idea of two recent searches I've done:

purple wire ignition
schrader fuel gauge

The first is really fun. I had a blast trying to find out more info on that one

I think the correct terms that got me what I wanted for info were ...

thick purple wire
schrader gauge adapter

The 'schrader gauge adapter' search worked like a charm, exact results I needed.
