Just to update this thread.....
On my B-body tank install into my 1970 442 I used this Gates 1 3/4" flexible fuel line to
connect the impala fill tube to the tank. The stock nitrile hose on the tank isn't flexible at all.
I picked mine up @ O'Reilly's.
First I tried to have the impala fuel filler neck heated and bent by a muffler shop but installing
it onto the tank, then putting the tank in with my own bent tank straps proved near impossible.
This made it 100x easier since it's more flexible and gives you more room to maneuver.

Oreilly has two (or more?) different kinds of tube that size, one is really stiff with metal bands kind of built inside it and the other is still stiff but more pliable and I believe all rubber (or whatever it is).

Another udpate for those interested in the future:
I used a new factory tank + the Competition Engineering sump + external fuel pump.
The car has been running this way now for 5+ years without issue. I have been to countless autocrosses, a number of open track events, and some drag strip passes. Never a problem with fuel supply until I am <1/8 of a tank. The sump will hold enough fuel (with the hole-drill baffles per Comp's directions) to make it through any long sweeper, etc.
I prefered this route since I didn't need to cut a hole in the trunk floor or cut the rear frame rails. I certainly see the appeal of the Impala tank system though!
