I've known about V8 swaps like the ford 302 but I've always dismissed them thinking it was retarded to put a heavy v8 in a light car and kill the weight distribution. However, the LS1 is a light engine and all aluminum, so I bet it doesnt set the distribution off that much. If anything some weight in the back end could fix it, just need a scale on all 4 wheels hehe
-Sub-frame bracing & a roll bar can be used to handle the flex. That coupled w/coil overs & big front brakes are a must.
-The 56% to 44% noted is about right & there is understeer. Although, it is managable.

Subframes were made and installed as well as a Boss Frog clear view roll bar. I am not doubting the front and back weight distribution with your conversion. I am curious to how mine is. I will be getting it checked soon. My engine and trans is set back 2" into the firewall. On a 89" wheel base I wonder how much it affects the distribution. I have asked the Ford conversion guys what is there's and have been told it was 53 Front and 47 Rear. But again everyone's conversion has been different in one way or another.

Again I pics. of this conversion at my site:

You should easily be able to run a 11.9 i ran my vega (2651lbs all fluids full 16gal cell of fuel +180lb me) and i ran 12.68@114.5 with a completely stock ls1 and poor flowing exhaust, but i was hooking up decent because i have a fairly good suspension setup and crappy 3.08 gears.

Hi Tim,

I was responding to the general question from RACE. Wasn't commenting about your install specifically. Your work is excellent. The headers are freakin awesome. Wish we had been able to arrange collectors the way you did. May want to look into Accel 30# injectors before the final tune. Looks like stock 28 pounders are used. For the power you're pushin, they're a bit of a stretch.

It's obvious that a lot of TLC went into that ride. Nice work.

I wasn't upset with your post Quincy!!! Its all good here. I was also trying to answer race's ?'s too. The site I posted should help give some idea what was involved. I am in the process of shaking it down, and fixing the things I didn't get too from before. Look forward to updating my pics. and seeing other people's conversions here too!!!
