Default C5 vs CTSV balancer

Does anyone know if the C5 harmonic balancer is the same as the CTS-V balancer?

Thanks,
Andrew

I have the C5 part number, but I have been unable to locate the CTS-V balancer part number.

In the latest issue of Hot Rod Mag, they have a complete list of the CTS-V accessory pieces and their part numbers. They are putting an LS7 into a Solstice and recommend the Cadillac accesories as the most compact. When I get home tonight I will get the part number and post it, unless someone else that has the magazine can do it sooner.

Edit: It's on their web page:

http://hotrod.com/projectbuild/hdrp_...ld/index2.html

But I don't see a balancer listed, so one could assume they are using the standard LS7 balancer. Assumptions however, are dangerous as we know. (*** U Me) So use this info with appropriate caution.

The Hot ROd article is what prompted me to dig into this, but he balancer PN is missing. Hence my question here.

One can ASSume that they are using the LS7 balancer, but I would rather know for sure. That brings up the other question: Is the LS7 balancer the same as the C5 balancer?

I have a C5 accesory drive, and would love to mount my alternator down low like the CTS-v configuration.

Maybe that is a good question for the LS2-LS7 forum?

Andrew, the F-Body LS1 accessory mounts have the alternator down low as well.

Yes, but the F-body uses a different balancer and tensioner. I already have a C5 accesory drive system, so if the balancers on the C5 and CTS-v are the same, then I can just get an alternator and bracket from a CTSV and use the C5 balancer and tensioner.

Cool, my bad. I knew the balancers were different, but hadn't put together why you were asking. Good luck on your search.

So the CTSV balancer is different than the C5 balancer?
