6.0 in a 96-98 ?

The PCM controls the trans, but it will plug right in to a 98+ F-body trans if you add a truck PRND switch. I don`t know if it will plug into a 97 or older trans though, and I think the torque convertor is different. If you want to put a truck engine in an f-body you will also have to swap to an f-body oil pan, pickup, windage tray, dipstick, intake manifold, and possibly exhaust manifolds. You will also have to rework the accy. drive a little bit to get the intake to fit.

. Then you should have no problem with the intake, oil pan, or exhaust. I think the trans will even have the correct PRND switch. But I am pretty sure the spacing on the torque convertor to bellhousing flange is still different, but I think a custom torque convertor would solve that.

There is a spacer available from GM to allow the 6.0L to mate to the earlier trannies. They use it for the later 6.0L (short crank) to mate to the 4L80e. It's pretty cheap, something like 40 bucks with bolts.
