Default Auto Meter Elec. Speedo / 6 Speed Questions

OK...just purchased the Auto Meter electric speedometer for my 69 Camaro with a 2000 LS1 / 6 Speed. Does anyone have the part number of the electric speed sensor (VSS) required send the pulse to the unit? Is there anything special about the install? Thanks in advance for your input.

I took next week off (vacation)to install the Painless wiring plus the Speartech wiring and the Covan dash with the Auto Meter Lite gauges so I'm sure I'll have a lot more questions before this event is over with.....wish me luck!

I hooked mine to the wire coming from the pcm and it works great. I have a modified factory harness though, so yours may be different.

There's nothing special about the install, just hook it to the VSS output wire from the PCM, set your tach on 4cyl mode.

If your speedo will accept a square wave DC signal then you should be able to hook it to the speedo signal wire coming from the PCM. If it will only accept a sine wave AC signal then you may need to tap directly into the VSS signal before it gets to the PCM.

The Auto Meter electric speedo will work fine using the speed signal output wire from the PCM that fed the OEM cruise control and speedo. Been there, done that, works great!

John at Speartech informed me that the output from the PCM works correctly for the Autometer speedos and that is where mine is connected. He stated that Autometer should correct their instruction sheets as they are not correct.
