Default Help with finding an engine for conversion

alright im EXTREMELY new to engine swaps and have very little knowledge on what i'm doing right now. i know my little knowledge makes it a bad idea to do a tranny/engine swap alone, but i am planning on going to UTI on LI or another automotive tech school. what i want to know is where can i go to find a new t-56 and Ls1 engine. what i need is this to be simply explained because im as i said earlier extremely new and dont know a lot yet. so all help with where to get an Ls1 and t-56 would help so much.
thanks for any help from anyone.
sorry if the forum aint right.
thanks again for all help, and please try to keep it simple if you can, thanks.

www.car-part.com, ebay, classifids section often has good deals on packages when people are parting out cars, or look for a 01-02 f-body that was wrecked in the rear for cheap, keep what you need and sell the rest (get the engine for basically free).. other options too. I know others will chime in.
welcome to the site. you've come to the right place.

found my trans here and my engine from car-part.com.......I find that ls1/t56 combos on eBay to be alittle pricey. However there are people who have found good deals

From what I have experienced so far, I would advice you to get a package that is as complete as possible. It will save you time and headaches looking for bolts and misc parts.....ask me how I know

as far as being new to the swap idea, you learn as you go.However, it is good to do some reasearch before you dive in.

I spent alot of time here doing searches and reading before I started my swap

all the best

I'm currently building a LS1-LS6 shortblock for my ElCamino, and it is expensive to collect all the parts: but I've never built a V8 before and enjoy the challange of putting together my own engine. Next time I'll buy a whole pull-out. I also currently have an Fd RX-7 that will get an LS1 either when the ElCamino gets done, or the engine blows. The Fd is an excellent platform for the motor, but, if you are in school and are short of funds, the FC swap is extremely inexpensive to do. Have you looked at Torquecentral?

since your new to engines/trans/swaps etc....
and plan on doing it yourself, id suggest mabey putting in a regular carbed motor with a standered trans.... alot easier and great foundation to do any swap...... ls1+t56+non ls1 car+ older car= alot of fabercation and extensive wireing knowlage (if doing all yourself)
but if that whats you want, then atleast you've found the right site...
good luck with your build
