I received the motor mounts as promised today. I also have the oil pan welded up and ready to bolt to the mock up engine . I am going to set the engine in so I can get the exhaust done and get the power steering hoses made.

Is there any options for a manual trans in a 4x4, if so what?
I'm thinking of buying a Colorado, and doing a LS? swap. Looks great, keep us posted.

Thanks.

I am not sure what you could do for a manual transmission. I think it would be too big of a pain in the but to try and use the factory colorado 5 speed.

The motor mounts from ls1 performance parts arrived, but they don't fit. Apparently the pedestals on the four wheel drive frame are different from the two wheel drive. So since no one is building a set of conversion mounts for the 4x4, I went ahead and built my own.

I also got the f-body exhaust manifolds that I won off of ebay. I removed all the air fittings, welded the holes shut, and blended them so you can't tell they have been messed with.

I am going to be working on the fan shroud next. Hopefully I will have decided on what engine I am going to be using by the end of next week.

What year is the engine?

Many states don't have many concerns with putting a newer engine into an older vehicle as long as the vehicle can pass emissions per the year of the engine. Most of the state DMV people I've talked to (CA & NV) won't allow an older engine in a newer vehicle. If they'd let it, there would be a LOT of cars out there with 1967 engines installed (no emissions requirements at all).

Those 98 f-body exhaust manifolds arent very good for hp. You can probbaly get c5 zo6 manifolds for next to nothing and flow better.

I always thought the swap on a colorado would be harder. Dont they have a smaller engine bay than a s-10 or at least for compact??

Its funny that the mounts didnt work. Steve pulled that same sting on me. He should really do some research before he starts selling parts that dont fit.

The funny thing is, I don't have an engine yet. I am very seriously considering a new ls2 fron sdpc, but I havn't really decided yet. I live in Minnesota and there are no smog stations here. I will install a high flow cat so there should be no issues there.

The problem with the vette manifolds is that the drivers side won't fit due to the motor mount pedestal. I plan on running these untill The truck is running and the bugs are worked out. I will build a set of headers as soon as my new bender arrives.

There is actually quite a bit of room for this conversion. I have done 6 S-10 swaps, and this swap is by far the easiest. The toughest part of this swap so far has been the oil pan. It took removing the engine 4-5 times before I was happy with the fitment.

Stampede4ever-
I own Screamin Seeman Offroad ( www.screaminseeman.com ). I am fortunate to be able to do this kind of stuff for a living. Steve at ls1 performance is taking care of the wiring harness. From what I understand it is nearly done. How do you guys think that will work? Any experience or feedback would be appreciated.

lt1s10-
I m actually glad steves mounts did not work because I was being pretty lazy by not building my own. I hope I don't end up saying the same about the harness. I simply do not have enough time to take care of that as well.
