Default LS1 into 87 T/A WS6

I was wondering how difficult it would be to swap a LS1 into a 87 T/A. I found a place by me thats sells LS1's & trans for about $4k. Thats motor, wiring ecu... all the goodies. I think this would be a cool project for my 87. I was just trying to figure out what the big snags were that caught people up. I'm also thinking bout swapping from the 700R4 to the T56. Also just looking for the major parts needed. I know I need a new xmember with torque arm, i plan on going with a spohn piece.

I am putting an LS1 in my '62 Chevy II. Yours would be awesome. Be smart like I wasn't and use the T56 with the sensors, your life will be much easier!

what sensors do you mean? vehicle speed sensors?

The VSS was my biggest challenge. The 40 tooth reluctor is tougher to adapt than a 2 or 4 tooth unit. Jaguars That Run helped. The skip shift and others I wouldn't worry about. The T56 is a moose and will probably take advantage of the rearend. I still love the '85 TA I don't have.

There are soooo many topics on this swap I almost don't want to post it all again. do a search here, and in the LSX engine swap section of thirdgen.org.

Basically you will need to notch your stock k-member, or get a tubular setup, you will need a new trans x-member, a new fuel pump, fuel lines and fuel regulator under the hood, some custom A/C lines, new motor mounts (unless you get a tubular k-member), and some wiring work.

Thats the majority of it, like I said, do a search
