Thanks Pat, do you possibly have a picture of where you drilled? Sounds like what I was thinking, except I was going to tap it into the thermostat housing but I dont know what direction the coolant is supposed to through the lines.

Schitzo, did you have to tap that bung for the radiator or is that something from an F body?
I have an aluminum radiator and capped off the line. Sean @ SMC performance said thats a NO NO. Has anyone ever put a tap into a aluminum radiator without welding? One of my co workers said I could just put a brass fitting with a nipple on one side and the other end would thread into the radiator with a tapered end and would seal fine. I don't want to drill if I don't have to...

I did that, schitzo. I cut off the plastic overflow nipple thing, drilled out the hole with a bit smaller than the small side of a 1/8" NPT elbow (with a barb fitting on one side), and just threaded it in straight until it was almost tight. Then I backed it out all the way, put some Teflon thread sealant on it, and threaded it in all the way. I am confident that it wont leak, and the only time it'll even see liquid is when the coolant system overheats.

You cut the overflow nipple and used that port? If you did how will the engine bleed off air, because the radiator cap vents,only pulls when needed and has vaccum. If the system is pressurized it wont vent back into the radiator, leaving air in the heads.
I like the water pump tap, but still air will settle at the highest point of the cooling system and having it lower than the heads still might trap air also...

nonono i didnt use it for the steam port. I used it because I dont want a hose sticking 4" out of the back of my radiator. I havent messed with my vent yet. I think it's ok to tap aluminum and use a brass fitting becuase they're both non-ferrous.
OK Im really confused 67RSCamaroVette. Do you have the coolant vent line tapped into the radiator? If so did you use the overflow nipple? Sorry Im just confused on how you fixed it on your ride.
I'll tap my waterpump for the steam port. I was saying that it IS possible to just thread a brass fitting into the radiator. I am doing it for my coolant overflow, so it tucks nicely. The stock one stuck out about 2" from the neck of the radiator cap. Now, it's only 1/4" out, and then straight down.
I did not cut or drill into anything.....my radiator is a brass type and had a threaded opening on it. I just bought a brass NPT to barb fitting and that was it. you can see the fitting in the pic

P.S. This not the radiator overflow, it is vent tube coming from the cylinder heads to release steam that can get trapped in there.
