Default 1999 tahoe possible?

Hey i have a 1999 tahoe with the 5.7 vortec in it, does anyone know if the LS1 will bolt in it as far as bolting to the trans., or if it has been done thanks.

It will bolt to the trans but it needs a little more mods to the engine mounts

edit: did some research and realized that a Vortec 350 is a SBC.

i'm sure the trans-dapt motor plates would work. You'd just use the plates between your LSX engine and the original SBC mounts. I believe the trans will bolt right up.

Yeah, your trans may have one bellhousing bolt that isn't used, but it should mate right up. Should be an easy swap, hardest part being wiring, but even that isn't particularly challenging if you're handy. No more difficult then installing a remote start.

There are issues with the torque converter because the crank offset on an SBC is different than on a GenIII. I do believe there are companies that have spacers or torque converters made just for this application.

Your best bet is to drop in the correct transmission for the ls1. The bellhousing, input shaft, offset ect will be different on the sbc 4L60

but will i still keep the 4wd with a transmission from an ls1?
