Hooker or ATS/Stainless Works LS2/T56 in 69 Camaro
First timer here, already got lots of information from everyone. Hope to contribute where I can.
Got a GTO LS2/T56 going in a 69 Camaro. Trying to decide on wether to use the ATS mounts with Stainless Works headers or the Hooker mount and header combo. I haven't found much on the Hooker stuff yet but they're only a small amount cheaper than ATS stuff. Anyone know if Hooker headers work with the ATS mounts? I'll be using stock steering and a modifed F-Body oil pan.

From what I have seen you can get away with either set of mounts with either set of headers. If it was me and the cost was about the same I would do the ATS mounts and the SW headers. I'd use the ATS mounts just because everything else I've seen of theirs is high quality and I'd use the SW headers because I've never seen a coated header on a car that gets driven look good after more than two years.

VMC, I'm doing the same setup. ATS mounts and looking at the Hookers.
Are you running the stock type rear steer linkage and power steering box?
I've had coated hookers before and had no problems. The coating is nice and keeps the engine compartment temp down.

hey, Vmc and glock73110 thans for the info.
Erikls2, did you check your shifter placement on the GTO T56. I was told the F-body T56 was the only trans that works well. The GTO shifter is something like 3.5in. further back and no parts available to move it forward.

I don't know what an f-body T56 measure but the my GTO version measures 33" from bell housing to shifter stick. Anyone know if an F-body is shorter. Being the same transmission though why couldn't you just put an F-body shifter on it or something like a B&M?
BTW, thanks for all the great feedback!

I just installed a set of the Hooker Headers on my '68 Camaro. I am using S&P mounts. I did have some minor interference with one tube and the pitman arm. A little demple and it clears fine. I also have the DSE 600 Steering box, which seems to be a bit bigger than the factory box-- so maybe this is why I had the interference.

FWIW, the shifter location should be identical when you take the stock GTO shifter off. The GTO uses an adapter to move the location back into the console. The actual shifter mount should be in the same place as a T56 on an F-Body.
