Default oil sender?

on the back of my 5.3 pointing straight up is a sensor that at first glance looks like an oil pressure sender. the wire running to it is a medium tan.

two reasons..

one, some people are using both sensors... for example, using a GM gauge and the stock LS1 sensor in the back, and the side boss for an autometer gauge..

two, the side boss can easily be tapped to 1/8" NPT... a standard that matches 95% of the sending units out there... but the metric hole on the back of the block is harder to find an adapter for.. easier now that a bunch of people have posted where to find it.. but still, it used to be harder. thats why they did it.

i have my boss tapped and plugged, but only because its the supply port for my turbos oiling system.

One reason to keep it is that you can have the PCM light up the low pressure red light on your dash.
