Default Swap in california??

Well, I am wanting to swap a ls1 into a 1973 240z and was wondering if i'd run into any smog issues in california since it is going to be a new engine and stuff...

Has anyone had any problems with their swaps in california?

You dont need to smog anything made before 1978? Or something like that, so swap away.

1974 and earlier are exempt from emissions regulations. Swap away.

For verification, I'm sure you can find it on line (dmvca.com) or just find the nearest referee station and ask them.

Okay so I'm really interested in doing this swap now. I'm not very advanced in auto-mechanics but would like to work. I love working on cars as much as I can.

Does anyone know of anyone with a fully documented 240z ls1 swap that I could read to gain some common knowledge from?
