Default Kooks On 3rd Gen?

Will they work? Kooks from a 98 LS1 to a 86 Trans Am?

it seems that MAYBE the gto headers could be modified a bit if you got a good deal on them, but the hawks are the only way.
ive tried hooker and pacesetter, and neither were even close.
lots of modification needed.
for the time and effort, its not worth it.

67-69 camaro headers loook like they might work with a tubular k member.
might have to notch and bend the tubes down low to kick them in from clearing the frame.
i had a friend say they are gonna work with his fox body with modification.
i think he got a deal on them.

<--would bolt in and go
the thing is I personally have other plans and spending a 1000 dollars on headers is dumb if im jus gonna be rid of them in a year or 2 when i ...further... my project..

well the headers are like 750 or 800 one of two and thats the same price for any stainless steel long tube. So its not like they are out priced they are just as much as a kooks or Qtp header, but either way it is pricy.

My opinion on this is if you are not looking for big HP then save your money and use it on other parts.

Did anyone else notice that they have both 2.5 and 3 inch collectors now? I talked to them years ago and Hawks said they wouldn't fit and gave me all this crap about costing $$ because I would have to special order them. Well thats another idea I gave away and lost money on.

How do I say this with out sounding like an ***... Hawks is the only place that sells LT headers that you dont have to modify. Like others have stated they are the same price as other SS headers. You get what you pay for and ALOT of R&D went into making them fit tight for ground clearance.
I think the kooks that you originaly asked about cost more dont they?

i dont think any R&D went into them.
they started with one tube at a time and hugged the body of the car.
pretty simple if you build headers for a living.
i bet a true custom set of tuned headers could prolly pick up more power over the "strait to the collector" route the stainless works/hawks LT makes.
im not fond of the 2.5 inch collectors either, but like we have any choice.
i went round and round on the phone, and for no price could i get a 3" collector.

i think another member here posted that they are offering the 3" collector now.
quality is great, and fitment is good also, but i dont think ill ever be able to put a powerglide in my car with these headers.
its tight with my TH350.... th400 might not even fit with the wider pan rail.
they were designed off a t56 car if i had to guess.

Who me Unfortunatly I can't guarantee fitment anymore without having my Iroc to test fit them on lol but yes I did make a few sets (had some issues at the end with a ceramic coating company losing the headers then closing business and I got screwed out of $550 bucks). I could still do it though if you wanted me too. I remember the build process pretty well

nuttin, just trying to get the Tempest built. Someone laughed at me when I wanted to enter a Pontiac Drag event for next year and said I had a straight 6 lol. Oh well decided not to enter when they said the slowest car was 9.30 haha. I'll be somewhere mid to low 11 hopefully unless I spray it
