strange idle????????? i just finished the initial install of my 5.3 in my 85 silverado. it fired right up and sounds smooth... when you start it up it instantly goes to about 2000rpms and sets there for a couple seconds then drops to about 1000rpm, for a couple seconds, and then drops to about 700 and idles really smooth. any ideas....
That's normal behavior for the LS1 in my Studebaker. I have also noticed similar behavior from a couple of LS1 Camaros. I think it is part of the emissions programming to make sure the rich start up mixture is completely burned.

Mine does that too, I've heard it is in the programming and that it is prevalent in Jesse Bubb's tunes. I've asked him about it and he says it's "normal". I'm not so happy with it and think it should be addressed. It can't be optimal for a cold engine to go straight to 2000 rpm. How many of you that have the 2000 rpm cold start also have a Jesse Bubb tune?

huh, I have a complete tune by jesse and I never noticed my car doing that. I noticed that it revs to 1200-1300 when I first start it up and then idles down to 600. Now I wanna go start the car and really watch the tach........[lazyness kicks in]........I`ll do it tomorrow.

mines also a Jesse tune...it jumps to about 1200...then immed. drops to about 1000....for about 10 secs or until i touch the gas pedal...then to about 650 it goes and stays

I checked mine today and it does exactly the same thing.
