Whats the weight difference?

Looks great! The only thing you may want to look at is the location of the oil pressure sending unit. In my RX7 Ive had 2 of them fail when they were that close to the header. You may want to consider a 45 degree fitting that will move the sender a little firther away from the header tube.

Chris.

I'm sure it would. I've seen plenty of e36 conversions, one e30 conversion, just haven't seen anyone pull the trigger on an e46 yet. Now that e46 is 7years old, you'll probably start to see conversions pop up.

That looks good. I work at BMW Manufacturing where your Z3 was made. If we had offered the LSX motor as an option, we probably could have sold a lot more of them little buggers. If you have it finished by next Labor Day, you should to bring it to the Roadster homecoming at the plant in Spartanburg. Pop the hood and surprise some folks.

As far as whether the headers will come out without removing the motor....NO. Neither will the starter, crank sensor, plugs may be doable but take lots of time/patience.... The pan is a stock f-body pan, and I'm using the stock Z3 crossmember with some Nash Motorsport mounts that utilize stock BMW mounting points and bushings (although I upgraded to urethane IE bushings).
i assume the LSX makes more power than the stock motor
and handles better and is lighter,

That looks like it belongs in there. That is frigging sick. To me that is quite possibly one of the coolest swaps yet. You took a damn nice car and made it way better. To me the Z is just alot nicer than a Miata (well it's pretty obvious) and it must definetly be way more solid. You probably will be able to get alot more tire under it than the guy with the LS6 Miata. BTW I'm not trying to bash the Miata swaps I'm just saying this is nicer.

That would've been a good idea, maybe a route I'll have to go in the future. Problem is with the motor in you can't access the sender. I did wrap it in some heat tape...hopefully that'll do the trick for a while.

Thanks bro. I love Miata swaps a ton! They take much more fab than this one did and I give props to anyone who tackles that swap

What about extending the sender away from the header with some -4an line and a bracket to mount the sender?

Again, not a bad idea......but now that my motor is in the sender is not accessible. The 7th pic down kinda shows how tight the driver side is with my setup
