Wiring

I recently killed something in my LT1 and am looking into taking that motor out, and dropping in a LS1. Anyone know of any plugs or wiring that can be done to where it can be done without switching everything out in the Dash, and some of the other stuff on the car. Basically some kind of plug or do all the connections match up..
PM me if you have any info. Thanks.

i dont know the LT1 as good as i should, but i can tell you that if it doesnt have 8 injectors and 8 coil packs, then chances are you wont find anything that will just plug in. the easiest solution is to buy a pre-made harness and pcm... else you can always build it yourself.

Yes there are companies out there that can build you a harness for that swap. Several people on this board have done it also. Speartech was the choice for building a harness like that, but from what I understand, e is not doing the custom plug-n-play stuff anymore.
You might try currentperformance.com, not sure if he does those or not.
P.S. yes the LS1 and LT1 use the same injector connectors, but the LT1 has an optispark distributor on the front of the engine, and the LS1 uses 8 coil packs.

Do the non truck LSx engines use an underhood fuse center? I'm putting a 5.3 from a 2005 Suburban into a 96 S10 Blazer, and the underhood fuse box made it real easy. Well, kinda easy. Well, not as hard as trying to figure it out without one. Still, if you had the money or no time and a little money, save some money and order you a swap harness. Just kidding. This way, all you have to do is figure out which wires from your car go to power the ignition switched circuit in underhood fuse box, and a few other things like guages and its done. Can anyone answer the above question about car LSx's?

PS. If you decide to DIY, get a subscription to a service like Alldata for both the donor and recipiant cars. Very valuable and time saving. Well worth the $40.Has all the wiring diagrams you will need for DIY.

It doesn't matter which way you choose to go. You will have to rig up the wiring for the gauges. Even if you go with painless or Speartech you still got to splice in all the wires for the gauges.
I have done both swaps, 1 using the C5 harness with the fuse box under the hood and the other with just the Fbody wiring harness. Both of them required the same amount of work. I should have all the info on both cars. Email me when you are actually doing the swap then I can help you. If not I can send you the wiring diagrams for both cars and you can do your own study. There is nothing really magical about the wirings. It is really simple. The LS1 wiring harness is already a stand-a-lone harness. If you hook up the power to the proper wires it will run. The rest of the wires are just gauges and there aren't many either. Water temp, Oil and fuel. Good luck.
