Default Jeff Schwartz- Ultima Twinturbo 6.6i (LS2) in SilverState Challenge

I read about his car being entered into the 2006 SilverState Challenge in Nevada which is an unlimited "no speed limit" race at 6,000ft on a closed public highway and it pretty much swept the event.

Basic breakdown:
Ultima Chassis/body- stock
Ultima brake package- stock
LS2 6.6liter twin turbo setup limited to 8.9psi (tuning issues)
* sounds like a 402; however other boards are stating a 409ci stock block LS2

The car also ran an 11.9@129mph at 6,000ft and low/med boost setting. This car must be insane even at this lower power level. It won the standing mile with 190mph and other events:

Apparantly during the 90 mile road event he was having what seemed like ignition break up above 5K rpm due to a bad cam sensor they finally figured out afterwards. They did beat the infamous "Big Red" '69 Camaro (540ci all aluminum big block back then) which reached 220mph back in the early 90's at this same race before it went into hibernation. Big Red was in attendance and placed well for a brick shaped muscle car.

Maybe we will get lucky and Jeff will chime in about his car.

I went to the competitor luncheon in Vegas on the Thursday before the Classic and was lucky enough to meet Jeff. My FrankenBenz isn't done (LS6 into Mercedes 560SEC) so while I didn't run the event, I achieved my goal of talking to many of the competitors to start to learn how and what to do for one of next year's Classic events.

Jeff is a neat guy, his Ultima GTR is amazing!! There were several of us grouped around the GTR down in the parking garage and he answered all questions. We stood around the car for maybe twenty minutes, trying not to drool on it. Very, very low car, VERY yellow!!

The LS2 in there has been stroked to a 6.6L and is running 9:1 pistons, so that the dual turbochargers would work best. Everything in the engine compartment looked professional, just like you would like your engine to look.

When the parade of cars started up to drive from the Sam's Town Casino in Vegas up to Ely, the GTR fired up, stumbled a little, cleared its throat, and then just drove up the street behind the rest of the cars. The best I can do to describe the sound is "muted violence". That GTR sounded GREAT. You could just listen to it and know it wanted to run, and run fast, but was just motoring up the highway at this moment. I think that if Jeff wanted to pass you and you were not in an F16, you were going to get passed.

Those that are interesed in the Classic can look at www.silverstateclassic.com. The neat thing is that the Classic is a road rally, not a race. You enter a speed class and your goal is to post a time at the end of the 90 miles that is an average of that speed. In the 150 MPH class, an error of one (1) second off the correct time for an average of 150 mph would put you in seventh place!! The winner was 0.027 seconds off perfection, second place was 0.096 seconds off.

Here's Jeff's web site - lots of info on the GTR.

that is just lewd!
I love it!
I so hope I can build a very mild very low budget Ultima GTR someday!

wow that car has some unreal performance numbers, his setup must be outrageous on the open roads.

Yeah his car is great! I got to see it in person at the 2006 Ultima gathering in Chicago last weekend. Jeff invited everyone up to his shop (about 45min from the gathering). The Ultima's are great performing cars. I got a ride in Jeff's car last year when he had a NA LS6 motor in there and it was INSANE!!! Acceleration sucks you into the seat, braking makes your eyes want to pop out of your head. It was great!!

Jeff had problems above 4800 rpm's when he set that 190.2mph at the 0-200-0 challenge. He won that challenge at half throttle on the car!!!! He recently replaced the cam sensor and the car would not stop breaking them loose on the dyno! I can't imagine how bad he will blow that record away next year. Congrats again Jeff and can't wait to see some vids (and get a ride next year!!)

Pics from this year's gathering are here:

Jeff's car is toward the bottom of the second post.

Thanks for posting that up gnx7. I had been meaning to do so. I didn't know if anyone else surfed pistonheads or not.
