Default Gbody guys?

how many other Gbody guys are in here? I've got an '84 cutlass I love to death but the na 3.8 is a tad lacking in the oomph department. I'm scheming a LQ9 and 4l60/4l80 after I'm done with the bodywork, and eventually I'm hoping I'll have the cash for a blower. Any thoughts? Who else has a LS motor in there Gbody, and what did you use for the swap?

Me . I used a 2001 Tahoe engine with a 4l60e automatic. The engine should fit in relatively easy. If you do a search you will find a bunch of us. Try searching cutlass camino or look for posts by 5.3Racer he swapped a LQ4 into his cutlass and it fit without cutting.

how hard was it to do the t56 conversion? I've thought about trying it, but I have serious doubts with my fabrication skills.

You will want to search John B's site. He put it a 6 speed himself and has some good info and pix on what is needed to make it work. On top of that, he's got the LS7 in it! Here's a link to his site. http://home.earthlink.net/~bzdel/

I fabricate motor mounts, modify oil pans and fabricate hydraulic clutch pedals (for use with T56's) for a plug & play installation. PM me for details.

I used to be -- does that count?

I sold my '84 MCSS with a 406/5 speed to pay for my Vette, but it still turns my head when I see a nice one. I'm a big fan of your work, John, btw. You represent the breed well!

to be perfectly honest, I've got a 4 door too. Most people laugh when I admit I've got 4 doors though, so I've gotten used to just omitting that part. I love it cuz it's mine and it's different, and it's the color I wanted. The 4 doors is definatly my secondary motivation for a motor swap. I'd be pissed if I got beat by something that used to be a grandma car, wouldn't you?

Been looking at John B's site.... holy **** that's a lot of info! it's definatly gonna take me a bit to get my head around all of it, if not just reading it lol. Lots of inspiration though!

What did everyone do for fuel tank and pump/pumps?

I used a fuel sender for a TBI equiped Monte Carlo and mounted a Walbro 255 intank pump on it. You won't get the fuel pump noise if you run an intank pump.

I also used an intake pump. Call Mike at Mike's Montes that’s where I got my sending unit from. I’m still using the original gas tank without the baffles, no problems here.

BTW
An LS1 in a G-body is the way to go. I’m sure most people here that have done the swap will agree...

i went the budget route, i used the stock tank with an external walbro 255 pump and an SX bypass regulator i bought off of ebay. i mounted both to the underside of the trunk floor.
