Default t56. skip shifting, hurt tranny?

i have a 95 240sx with a ls1/t56 with a j30 diff. the diff is 3.9xx. the problem i have with it is on the street im only in a gear for a matter of seconds. is it hard on the tranny if i just skip gears? i have done it alittle today. 1,3,5 and then 6. and once 2,4 and then 6. is this in any way hard on the tranny? from my driving today im only in 1,2,3 and 4 for like 1 to 1 1/2 seconds at a time driving the same speed as other traffic without getting real high in the rpms.

From the factory at low speeds the PCM makes you go from 1st to 4th for emissions reasons, so I doubt it will harm anything.

fun, huh .. no it wont hurt your tranny. i've got 4:10's, so mine's the same. I like to drive next to people and wind out a gear or two, and watch them glance nervously over at me, even though i'm going the same speed as them.

i read alittle about the pcm shifting from 1st to 4th but mine hasn't done that and the guy that had pcm only took off rear o2 and vats. dunno why it aint doing it. must have to be in 1st for awhile. i was going to take it off anyway.

The skip-shift is usually deleted along with the o2's, vats, etc...

I often drive my vette in 1-3-5 pattern in traffic when i want good mileage. No problems.

I launch the Rotus in 2nd gear. I can smoke 'em off the line with part throttle, and hit 64 MPH.

No problems at all.

You don't have to delete it. Just unplug the solenoid. It will allow you to shift 1-2-3-4 and will only give you a skip shift light if you are using a Camaro gauge cluster. No other warning lights.
