Volvo LSx swap

Has anyone messed or know how hard it is to put a LSx in a 89 Volvo 740GL? It has a 4 banger in it now and it is also rear wheel drive. I like to get a idea of how much a swap would run me... I tried the search button but came up with no luck.

check out www.jagsthatrun.com they have a list of parts and make some of the parts for this swap. it should fit, it's been done.
costs depend on how you want to do it:
engine/trans w/ PCM: $1500- $$$$$$ (all depends on what you want to put in)
mount kit $???
average fuel system:~$100-300
cooling system: ~200-400
intake: $100-300
exhaust: $400-800
wiring: $50-500
misc hoses, brackets, raw materials, ~$100-500
blood, sweat, tears, busted knuckles, etc....
satisfaction of pulling it off- priceless
edit: my estimates are on the low end, my findings are that it will cost more.

There's no reason it can't be done, the LS1 will fit anywhere a SBC will, and the SBC fits the 240 and 740 like a glove ![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
Trust me, I've thought about this swap more often than I should...my daily beater is a 1988 240DL. Then I remember that I need to buy a house, and then buy a GTO so that I can have a "daily beater" that has such luxuries as "windows that don't stick", "working HVAC", and "horsepower"!

There was a twin turbo wagon thread somewhere on here. It is the same year as you are asking about. Looked like it was going to be a really nice car. Not sure if it is done, but should be able to find the thread somewhere.....
EDIT: Found them! Enjoy!![Grin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif)

The estimate above is conservative. I've got ~$6k sunk into my truck and it's been pretty much bolt-up on everything except the clutch and tranny crossmember. I didn't go overboard either. If you go with an actual LS1 w/tranny, it's not cheap once you buy all the things to install it.
No matter what you do, you're gonna get frustrated when things don't fit/go/work right or you buy the wrong parts or parts aren't fitting properly, things are not going to go right, and you will need to find workarounds and a prerequisite is having a cool temper when those things come up, or you're going to pay even more when you break something in a fit of rage.
