Default Picked up my motor set tonight.

Picked the coldest night of the year so far to drive the F250 out to Elgin and scooped up my motor set.

Got a 98 LS1 out of a Camaro with 70K miles on it. Also got the A4 trans, wire harness, ECU, MAF and Hypertech programmer. Its missing a PS pump but other than that, it looks complete. I got the alternator and AC compressor in a box along with a box of bolts.

Going into a '90 240sx fastback.

Looks clean. Are you going to keep the tranny? They say the 98 motor isnt as good as the 99 and up. But aslong as you have the 98 ECU and wiring harness you should be ok.

I guess it all depends on what HP Output and usage you are planning for the 98 LS1.. but no reason why it can be a good runner and have some mod to it and still hold together.. There are some problem with them.. but as you see, them 98 are still out there and running, so.. depending on what your plans are.. have fun !

Well, the pan needs to be swapped to a GTO pan so I will get a chance to pull a rod cap or two. There is still oil in the motor, fuel in the rail, ATF in the trans and coolant in the motor. I am hoping that the motor fine and fires right up and lasts a short time with a medium shot of nitrous.

The A4 is going to go into the 240 also. The focus of this car will be drag racing so the AT seemed to be the way to go. We just need the motor and trans to hold up for a few laps at a road course and then a few passes at the drag strip. After that, who knows what direction we will take with the car.

Awesome. Yes, fastback = hatch. We will have to stay in touch with the progress on the respective projects.

I actually found the motor on chitownracing and found the same motor listed on ebay where I bought it.

If you are gonna pull the pan and check some rod bearings you at minimum need to put some upgraded rod ARP bolts. Hell just throw some bearings and if you get crazy put some pistons, just so you don't have to worry later. It'll add minimal cost (less than a grand) and will give you insane amounts of peace of mind especially if you are gonna spray it.

Yes please.

I have yet to pull the pan but I would assume that the oil pickup needs to be changed to fit the GTO pan..... unless for some reason it swaps to the other end of the motor???? But yes, I would be willing to sell the pan, pickup, windage tray, dipstick, etc (not sure what all needs to be swapped) for whatever it costs to pick up the GTO pan and accessories I need.
