Default I need quick advice on a price for an LS1

What would be a REAL good price on a 98 LS-1, with an automatic, and computer and harness. The drivetrain has 85,000 miles on it.

What do you experts think?

Thank you for the replies? The buyer wants $1600.

What is wrong with the 98 PCM?

Theres nothing wrong with it at all. It is just harder to tune than later LS1 PCMs. There are differences between 98 ls1's and later ls1's. a few off the top of my head : no LS6 intake, oil passages are different in the back of the block, like stated: heads in later years flow a tad better, valve covers bolt on different. Basically there is nothing wrong with a 98, it has differences but nothing to make me consider it as a worse engine.

$1600 is an awesome price I'd buy that in a heart beat.

Just a FYI.....I had to get my 98 ls1 PCM tuned to run properly in my truck.....it cost me 25 bucks and the tuner had no problems tuning it.

The 98 PCM`s are not harder to tune, the skills that you need are the same to tune any of them. The difference is that 98`s have less features that you can tune and the computer is slower. If you are planning on doing a bolt on motor or heads and cam it doesn`t really matter what PCM you get, but if your planning on running turbos/supercharger and pushing the boost up you should look into a 99+ computer.

Wow, very nice feedback here... Thank you.

I am somewhat familiar with some of the LS1 motors, but not to the detail that you guys do. I also owned a 98 Formula that I feel was very quick. I loved the engine and trans in this car. Mine didn't have the dreaded piston slap either.

Merry Christmas!!!

I've got a complete 5.3 with a 4L60e with only 8,000 miles on it for $1700 if you wanted something like that. Just thought I'd toss it out there.

If you can get it for $1600 and you know it runs, buy it. You could sell it on Ebay for over $2000
