Now where can one find a complete pullout diesel with turbo, trans, etc?

Man I love those lincolns !
I tought that their weight was 4300lbs ???
Are you sure it's 5000lbs ?
Anyway a pullied Lighting runs 12's all day long and weights more than 5000lbs.
Those swaps go for about $3-5k not bad ! but you might have clearnce issues

Something like this would work fine.

I've always wanted to do an A/C-cooled intercooler, I thought that the power gained by dropping the charge down to ~40* would way more than compensate for the extra drain from the compressor.

I didn't think about the lightning engine. Might be an option.

They will be heavy, probably as heavy as a big block (maybe even more). The only down side is if you want to have it fully "built" they will run you a bundle.

You might want to find and measure a Lightning motor first. From intake to pan, they're pretty tall. Also, on the diesel front, in a car application, you won't need an Allison or 4r100. They only use those because they're in Heavy Duty trucks that are designed to pull heavy loads. Behind a "Stroke", you can get away with a built 4r70w or AODE. Check out Lentech. Chuck

Dont get me wrong, I love the LS motor and putting one in an old Lincoln with the six speed is an awesome idea, but the sugestion from G-body to drop a Power Stroke/D-max/Cummins in her and go 12's is a great one too. Think about it, good looking car, very powerful motor, speed parts are cheep (dollar for dollar you can make more for less $$ with a diesel), and it will deffinately be a 1 off. The kool factor is off the chart with something like this. Fire up the ZZ-Top and go cruise "We bad, we nationwide".
Yes the Cummins in my Dodge is heavy, very heavy. And the 6 speed behind it is almost as heavy, but with 300hp and 650lbft of torque, it will move out at an impressive rate. I dont have track certified numbers but the G-force computer my nephew threw in it for a run up the highway connector said 83.7 mph from the stoplight to a 1/4 mile. I forget the time but I was thrilled at how good the big girl could dance. The great thing about diesels is they are big beef from the get go. Where else do you find 4" crank journals, not crank throws/the journal diameter? I know that with all I've towed, hauled, or plowed, my Cummins has laughed at everything I've thrown at it. The first time the kid borrowed it, he promised to take it easy. I dared him to break something, hasn't been able to yet!
