Hummer H3 swap

Hummer H3 swap I've searched the internet for info about swapping out the Hummer's 220 hp I5 and found little info, (a 5 cylinder in a hummer? what was GM thinking 
). GM keeps promising a V8, but they haven't delivered. I looked at the engine bay and boy does that engine take up a lot of room. I have a spare LS1 from a Camaro SS sitting around, and I was thinking it would bolt right up to the 460LE. It should be an easy swap. I'm looking for input from you guys because I respect you knowledge a lot. I'm thinking I may have oilpan issues-I may have to find other ones or make one. I may have to get a higher volume fuel pump. Other options I have considered are one of the LS truck motors from the Yukon or Suburbans. There is an outfit in Witchita Kansas called Mash Motors that does that swap, but they want $14 K

it would be the same swap as any of the Colorados, and i know several guys are doing or have done those swaps. keeping the awd might be a problem. also, in the future there may be a V8 option and that would give you tons of parts to work with.

With the interchangeable bellohousings on the late 4L60E's, I dont see a problem in bolting up a LSx. The only problem might be the oil pan and crossmember/diff clearance. I wonder if a trailblazer pan would work?

It's all good to hear, and those pics are encouraging. The more I stare at the engine bay, the more I think that a V8 swap with a Vortec or LS series engine would not be that hard. This would be my third, (twin turbo SBC into a Datsun Z, 427 LS into an RX7) so putting a GM into a GM seems a lot less complicated.

Yes, I read your thread about the Colorado swap with great interest. Good job. The mechanical part of the swap looks straightforward. I liked the oil pan mod. Did you get the guages to work right with the new harness?
