how did you bolt it in the car? cross member? motor mounts? drive shaft? What did you do for a fuel system? I thank you for any help.... My 81 used to have a Big block 468ci that i put in. Which really wasnt easy to do...It went 12.63 at 107mph but was not very road worthy and the gas milage REALLY SUCKED. I blew up my trans and sold the bb. And am very interested in LS1.... I know were thier is a wrecked 98 camaro.... I was just wondering if it would have everything i would need to put the ls1 in the 81.. What am i missing if anything......Thanks for the help...What is the hardest part of the swop...?

For motor mounts I fabbed mine from the stock 4th gen motor mount stands. I took and cut a big part of the stand off and welded a plate to it, then welded it onto the frame. The trans cross member is a stock th350 that the mount was cut off, the crossmember was rotated 180 and then I made a new mount on the other side. The drive shaft was cut about 2" if i remember correctly. I used stock fbody accessories so I had to notch the front of the frame for the ac, which I still need to box off when the motor comes back out. The hardest part was the wiring. Which I gave up on and let Speartech handle it. The 98 should have everything you need, but I would reccommend finding a 99 and up. The 98 is kinda the bastard child and is supposed to be harder to tune or wire. Anywho if you have any questions I would be more than happy to answer. Thanks, Josh

The wiring for the 98 motors is a little different, but the wiring is pretty well know for both. The 98 computers are a little slower, so if you are looking to make a lot of power with forced induction you may want to step up to a 99 or newer motor. If it is just going to be a bolt on car or heads and cam the 98 computer should be fine. There were some design updates to the engines themselves, and of course the newer the engine the better, but if you can get a deal on a 98.......

What did you do for a fuel setup? Once I get the old 350 out of my 78 Z28 I'll be looking for an LS1. Til that time I am trying to get my shopping list as complete as possible. Thanks.

Default fuel system

I took the stock tank, put a comp engineering sump in it, ran it to a walbro 255 inline pump, into a corvette regulator that returns into the original sending unit. Then I ran an aluminum line to the fuel rail with an AN fitting off the rail. Of couse everything has braided hose in between the aluminum lines, pump, and regulator. Hope this helps, Josh
