Default 1971 Chevelle SS LS1 just finished

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just finished my 71 Chevelle SS LS1 and I was wondering what people might think it could be worth....
--Paint is over ten years old I would have to say it looks good from ten feet..
--Interior is custom white vinyle with SS badges on the headrests..
--It has a custom gauge cluster from covan with autometer white faced gauges..
--The entire suspension was rebuilt with Moog bushings, Eibach Springs, ---Hotchkis front and rear suspension components..
--The motor is a 2000 LS1 With Texas Speed and Performance Precision Stage 2.5 Heads that came complete from them with the Chrommoley Hardeden pushrods, dual roller timinchain, ported oil pump and Patriot dual valve springs the cam is their Torquer 3 cam.. 231/234 .643"/.598" 111 LSA.. LS6 intake .. Ported and polished TB.. The airbox is custom cause the stock one didn't fit.. but that is K&N..
--T56 Tranny with the Ram Powergrip HD,Custom 3in Alum driveshaft
--B&M short throw shifter
--Hooker Headers made to fit an LS1 in a Chevelle.. 3in Stainless Magnaflow exhaust with tru X, no cats, to their Stainless mufflers freeflow mufflers..
--
12 Bolt Rear with Moser Ring and Pinon and Axels with an Eaton Posi
--Tires are BF Goodrich Radial Ta not sure of size they are brand new..

So this is my ride I was just wondering what I might expect to get for it if I wanted to sell it....

The motor setup in a Camaro is supposed to put out about 420 to the wheels....

Honestly if it is a true SS you killed the value of it. I'd be interested in pictures but that's the kinda car a 396-454 belong in even if the car isn't numbers matching. Swaps like this don't increase the value at all. Unless you had a shop like lingenfelter or somebody like that do the install a potential buyer is always gonna say in the back of their mind, "What did this guy rig up to it get going so he could sell it. If he want's to sell it he is having problems with it" Nothing might be rigged at all, and it all it working together well but that's the way alot of people think. Look at V8 swapped S10's on Ebay, they go for less than the comparable trucks with the factory driveline 90% of the time.

That may be true but I love the fact that your blending old school muscle with modern muscle. I've actually seen some "modernized classics go for big bucks."

Nothing wrong with it at all, but again the car isn't what it used to be. Most of the cars that go for big bucks that have modern drivelines in them are cars that are built by your Boyd Coddingtons, Chip Fooses, and so on and so forth. Not saying what he did was wrong at all or not that caliber of work, I'm a fellow swapper here, but that's the honest truth as far as I see it. Sorry

That wasn't what he was doing, he was comparing what happens to values when you make changes in the driveline. Common problem in older cars particularly. Once the numbers match is gone, values can fall all ove rthe place, with no real pattern. Sometimes you can increase the value even without matching numbers, but that isn't common. If you can recoup what you put into it, and feel comfortable with what someone offers, then you are doing okay. Gotta say though that this type of swap doesn't normally return as an investment, it really needs to be something you did because you wanted to.

IMO - The value of a Boyd Coddingtons or Chip Fooses car is in the value of the names of Boyd and Fooses not so much as the value of what you have built and put into it... even if you has the same driveline, great paint and all.
