I don't know, but if you're going to drill your passenger's head for a gauge, you best not post about it. That's premeditated.

I drilled mine for an electric sender, but I can't remember if it was 1/2 or 3/8 and my heads were stock 2000 models, whatever casting they are.

I was leery of drilling for a 1/2 NPT. I did a 3/8 but that is all I wanted to go.

I drilled and taped for 3/8" also.. most if not all manufactors of gauges have there senders in different size 1/2", 3/8" or 1/4".. or have adapters. There is also a Metric adapter to NPT if you want. but it start to stick out some once use use the adpater and sender, if you have the space.. no problem then.

I have seen some pictures with 1/2" ones being used.... but since I was able to get mine in 3/8", that also as far as I needed to go.

Just out of pure curiousity...Why go through all that trouble? Why not run an electric sender, and just get the adapter bushing that most of us "swap" guys do?

I have an electric sender mounted in the rear of the pass. head that runs an autometer gauge. And I have a scan gauge mounted that can display the coolant temp sensor reading too. They are spot on...so the elec gauge in that spot is reading accuratly.

Just curious...drill into the head sounds scary for something like that. If there was a huge difference between an electric sender and a capilary style sender (mechanical gauge) then maybe I could see doing that?

Yeah I can understand the "already had the gauges" scenario. Been there before

Im not sure you will find an adapter to go from that hole in the head up to the sealing nut for the calipary tube. Adapters like that usually go down in size...but I could be wrong.

Good luck tho man! If you drill the head, take lots of pictures and do a write up on here... that will surely help someone else out that is in your position!

S&P has an adaptor that goes from metris to 1/2'' npt. If I am not mistake it is around $25.

I beleive that it is a 12x1.5mm thread and is an adapter.

Well the adapter that most of us use is the 12x1.5mm to 1/8" NPT adapter. Im not sure you can go from the threads in the head up to 1/2" NPT for the mechanical temp sender...

If you build enough adpaters together to make something like that work, you might run into a space issue back there...depending on your set up in the engine bay.
