Do not hesitate to buy-build a Factory Five car.. I had a Cobra from them and loved it.. I was very active in the Cobra community and it is one of the closest knit groups out there..
Check out ffcobra.com
It is the best Cobra Forum out there and they are 99% Factory Five and have a very good GTM section..
Good luck and keep us up to date..

Yeah, I hear you...I'm 48....
Car looks great in person. Even better than the photos.
Also, Car and Driver did a quick review of the car. It's available online here: GTM

I finished up a Austin Healey Replica from Classic Roadsters a few months ago and put a 04 GTO LS1 /T56 in it.
It doesnt have quite the supercar look but it does look classy and hauls some serious bawllz plus it corners like it's on rails.
Just responding because of the topic title.
Cheers,
Jerry

That is indeed an awesome car! I almost talked myself into one a while ago, but after reading a lot on the ffcobra.com website I changed my mind due to some issues I don't think I could get over like the seat being riveted to the floor (how safe can that be?!), most people are getting up to a full inch difference in wheelbase from one side to the other. Yes- that can be fixed, but you gotta cut and weld a lot to do so. Then there were other issues like how only certain year corvettes parts (such as the gas tank) would fit (i believe it was 97-99 IIRC that don't fit correctly?). The A/C system has no provisions to draw cabin air, so you are dramatically shortening the life of the compressor by making it work overtime to stay on,..... I could go on. If you dig deep enough, there is enough odds and ends that if fixed correctly, will drive the kit up to the $100k price range. And if you are going to do a car like this, you definitely want to do it RIGHT and not skimp on details. If it weren't for all the small issues I'd probably already have one ordered. However, this is a relatively new car for factory-five, and I'm sure in time, they will have all the bugs worked out of the kit. I'm definitely keeping an eye on the GTM's in the meantime, but I can't bring myself to spend $100k on a kit car in the end.
Keep us all updated with your build, they are badass cars if done right!
