Default Fbody vs. GTO Accessories placement

Is there a difference in the way accessories are placed on GTO's and 98-02 Fboy cars ?

I was prepping my car to receive an ls1 but now I am going for an ls2 combo out of a GTO.

i am using 04 gto setup in a-body. from i am told the gto setup is the closest to the block setup.alt. is hung very LOW on drivers side, under p/s. air comp. is also very LOW on pass side.

What style mounts are you using ?


Did you have to notch the frame for the AC comp ?

i used the blueprints from the sticky sections and made BRP style mounts out of 1/4 steel plate. then just bought energy suspension mounts.for the air, i didnt notch because im probably gonna make or buy high mount brackets. also used factory f-body exhaust manifolds on my setup.clear everything,paid 30.00 for them(sold the gto manifolds for 45.00), are nice and quiet, and also make just a little less power than headers. the car is setup for crusin, not 1/4 mile.

I got BRP style mounts too.

GTO and Fbody have different manifolds ?

Could you have kept you ac where it belong if you wanted to notch ? (just like the fbody)

Ok sounds great

Are all the sensors and electrical connectors the same as an ls1 ?

I dont know the differences between the LS1 and LS2 variants. But I'd say they are all the same.

If there are any changes, they would be very minor.

I do know their accessories though. I originally bought a Camaro engine for my install, but ended up having to buy a Aussie PAS pump, to suit my blower bracket.
A/C, alternator etc were exactly the same for both cars.

gto manifolds exit pretty much right under the third cylinder from front, which hit my engine crossmember. f- bodys look more like shorty headers you could purchase from like flowtech or any other header brand. the pass side exits on a 45 angle following the angle of firewall, all the way back under the last cylinder, the drivers side is a real shorty style also and almost exits straight down below the last cylinder.
