oh just cut it out you dont need it thats a problem. Can you cut it out and then put a new one in and notch it. If you did that you would probably have to redo the hood latch. just and idea, i just want to look at it and see a stock hood. if the carb intake setup will fit under hood then go for it. but the stock hood must stay good luck

Oh the stock hood is staying no matter what.. but after some thought I might be able to notch the support and put a brace in and use that notch for the fmi return

I don't know whats more impressive. the fact the rear wheel wells arn't rusted off the car or all the fab work you did looks good. I had an idea years back of doing a similar thing too a grand am from the late 80's early 90's although I was only going to run a gen1 350.

What are you welding the 4-link to? I'm going to get a front end kit with mandrel bent rail to make an entire frame, but interested in seeing what you've got going on there.

I thought about getting a front frame kit as well but it's gone together so easy this way and the red one in the sig has stock front suspension also so I figured why not.. I bought comp. engineerings universal frame kit and welded it to the side pinchweld areas then used left over square tube to go forward off of that and put the cage plates and main hoop right to there. then I'm using roll tubing to reinforce the pinchweld all the way forward.. the red section in the car is the tunnel from a fbody

Oh, this is good! What did you do for steering? Doesn't the cavy come stock with a rack & pinion on the firewall? You're providing the torch-courage for half the guys on this list!
Keep up the great work.

Great project!
Keep the pics coming!
P.S. I'm glad you aren't in my area...I don't want to be one of the many embarrassed by a cav!
Did you figure out a wheel choice?

no doubt man I can't wait to shut a bunch of people up
I think I might go with weld pro stars.. they can be mistaken for a set of wheels that would normally be put on one ... in the split second they get to see it

They may get to see them for a minute, at the red light though.
My $.02--->put on some steel wheels in 15s or 16s (like maybe aftermarket corvette rallies) and put on some stock looking hub caps. Like later model OEM cav caps! That will look stock and hide the different offset. Oh, and safety wire them on!

Did you get f-body spindles to work? I'm thinking stock cavi brakes may be a little unsafe on this road rocket! Please, put some good binders on it!

That hubcap idea is hilarious. A 15x15 with a hubcap on it. ROFL!!!! That would be awesome.
